New Look Autumn/Winter 2014

High street retailer New Look has set its eyes on nautical and military trends for the label’s AW14 collection. Green and blue palettes, accented with pops of neon, khaki and muted tones, dominate recently released images from the brand, which launched its first men’s range back in 2003. Key pieces within the extensive line, thought to be one of the firm’s largest offerings to date, include cable knit jumpers, wool pea coats, Breton stripes and military boots. Luxe sportswear mirrors moves made by other menswear firms. Separates like joggers, t-shirts and baseball jackets make an appearance, featuring zips, panelling and texture. The focus on tailoring seen in SS14 has also been carried over to the new season. However, long wool overcoats and faux leather showcase a darker direction for the winter months. Cuts are slim and tapered, while prints and other details include oversized checks, dogtooth and contrast panelling. Earlier this year the high street store was reported to be looking to convert a number of its retail locations into standalone menswear stores. To accompany the recently released lookbook, the brand has created a short behind the scenes video featuring models Billy Huxley and Josh McGee. Prices for clothing will start at £14.99, and footwear from £24.99, when the collection begins to drop in stores and online at NewLook.com from July this year.
