A Topman-sponsored talent initiative has revealed which young designers it is backing for spring/summer 2015. NewGen Men, which provides financial and business support to emerging talent, is to welcome two new names, following the departure of Shaun Samson and Martine Rose, the British Fashion Council has confirmed. Alex Mullins and Craig Green will join eight existing names from last season, including Agi &; Sam, Lee Roach and Matthew Miller. Along with legal and commercial advice from leading firms, the menswear stars will also be given the chance to showcase their designs at London Collections: Men in June. Chief executive of the BFC Caroline Rush said the complete list, which also includes Astrid Andersen, Common, Diego Vanassibara, Kit Neale and Nasir Mazhar, represents “a generation of extraordinary menswear talent”. The NewGen Men programme aims to help the designers in their bid to become globally recognised names. Previous recipients include J.W Andersen, James Long and Christopher Shannon. First time winner Alex Mullins spoke of the pleasure of joining “a long line of the UK’s most forward thinking and cutting edge designers”. Craig Green added: “The support is an incredibly valuable tool in allowing me to progress my business”. Founded in 2009, the NewGen Men committee includes a number names across the fashion and magazine industries including Catherine Hayward, Esquire; Gordon Richardson, Topman; Imogen Fox, The Guardian; Robert Johnston, GQ and Sam Lobban, MR PORTER. London Collections: Men SS15 will run from 15th to 17th June 2014, with the full schedule to be announced next week.
