Sweeney Celebrates British Countryside With New Collection
Oliver Sweeney has released a preview of its AW14 collection. The new line from the British brand features a selection of shoes in rich colours and pebble-textured leather. According to designers at the firm, the footwear is inspired by the “heritage and practical approach to countryside dressing,” and the “best features of British country attire.” Styles include the Gibson brogues and classic Italian dress shoe, as well as more heavy-duty boots. A number of modern styles also make an appearance. Three leather trainers carrying contrasting stitching and soles aim to corner the casual market. Founded in 1989, Oliver Sweeney is well known for its manufacturing process, carried out by small group of craftsmen and women. The brand has relied on the same family-run, factory on the Adriatic east coast of Italy to make its footwear since it was created. Around 128 components make up each shoe, built around Anatomical Last technology, which mimics the human foot to produce a sculpted fit. Oliver Sweeney continues to offer a tattoo service on its products made via online order or taken to special in store events, the next which takes place at the Conduit Street store on May 31st. The AW14 range is due to become available in Oliver Sweeney stockists, including Selfridges and Harvey Nichols, as well as online and in store from mid-July.
