Dior Creative Director Taped by E-Store
Raf Simons is the name behind a new collection produced exclusively for online retailer The Corner.
The Dior creative director has created six pieces for the range, including a full-length jacket, short-sleeved shirt, T-shirt, sweatshirt, pair of Bermuda shorts and casual trousers.
Belgian-born Simons used bright graphics over black garments on many of the tops, while the Bermuda shorts feature a black-on-black mini-polka dot.
Both the full-length jacket and casual trousers are monochrome. The short-sleeved button down features a two-fabric pattern, one part mint and white gingham, and the other all black.
The Yoox-owned website describes the collection as pushing “the sartorial boundaries with highly innovative silhouettes – all with an ironic twist, courtesy of bright statement embroideries.”
The approach follows the designer’s current connection with LA-based artist Sterling Ruby, with whom the 46-year-old worked for his AW14 collection.
Paul Smith previously took up the task of creating a capsule collection for the e-tailer.
Prices for the Raf Simons line range from £198 for the two-fabric shirt, to £775 for the full-length jacket. The short-sleeved T-shirt and sweatshirt hit the middle ground at £460 and £550 respectively.
Having shown his latest Dior collection in Brooklyn recently, Simons will now go on to sit on the judging panel at the inaugural LVMH Prize for Young Designers, prior to showing his next menswear collection this summer.
