Retro Styles Reissued For AW14
Bosses at trainer brand Saucony are hoping the popularity of retro footwear continues into the new season as it reveals a number of reissues for AW14. The US label’s most famous model, the Jazz Original, has returned in colour-block shades of red, green and blue, while the Shadow Original comes in a selection of earthy tones. Neon accents can be seen across the neoprene-lined Grid 9000, a “heavy duty running shoe” which first launched in the nineties. The Shadow 5000 model is a new introduction to the Saucony Originals range, having only previously featured as part of premium offerings and collaborations. For AW14 the style comes in a mix of pastel and darker shades. Saucony’s latest collection follows a collaboration with Newcastle-based menswear retailer End Clothing earlier this year, which resulted in a fast-food inspired ‘Burger’ version of the Shadow 5000. The firm launched its first British pop-up shop in March. The outlet aimed to showcase “pieces from the 1950s to the present day alongside exclusive collaborations and collectors’ items” in London’s Covent Garden. The AW14 collection is available to buy now from stockists including ASOS, Schuh and Offspring. Prices start from £50 for the Jazz Original, £75 for the Shadow Original, £80 for the Shadow 5000 and £80 for the Grid 9000.
