SHAUNS California Eyewear SS14
Luxury eyewear label SHAUNS California has launched its latest SS14 sunglasses collection. The brand is continuing on its mission to restore sight to the millions. Visually impaired himself, SHAUNS Creative Director Shaun Paterson implemented the ‘Give Sight’ program. The initiative aims to help the 285 million people worldwide that also suffer from sight problems, but have no access to health care. Each time a pair of sunglasses is sold, SHAUNS donate a pair of vision glasses and sponsor an eye exam for a person living in a developing country. The brand has so far teamed up with clinics in Ecuador and Honduras, with further destinations around the world in the pipeline. Although SHAUNS is based in California, each pair of glasses is manufactured in small, family-owned factories in Italy. The result is eyewear that fuses American-inspired design with genuine Italian craftsmanship. The brand’s trademark is a Braille ‘S’, which is embedded on every temple tip and the upper corner of each frame. SHAUNS utilise high quality Carl Zeiss lenses within both their wire and acetate framed collections, ensuring protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays. The Harris glasses (approx £185) are a highlight of the new SS14 line. Featuring a classic browline silhouette, they are available in military green acetate and come complete with contrasting brown gradient lenses. The Lomond (approx £177) is another stand-out style. The acetate frames come in solid black or brown/white two-tone colour ways and feature a metal accent on the bridge.
