Century-old American outerwear label Spiewak has been given a modern day makeover, in a bid to kickstart the “next chapter” in the company’s history. The release of Spiewak’s AW14 collection coincides with the relaunch of the brand, announced earlier this year. The latest offering is split in to two product lines, the first being a mainline range consisting of classic outerwear styles reinterpreted with modern details, fabrics and shapes. The second arm of the collection, known as Spiewak Golden Fleece, comprises archive pieces reproduced in vintage surplus materials. It includes the limited edition Woodland Camo Parka, created to mark the brand’s 110th anniversary. Speaking about the collection, the business’s newly appointed creative director, Maurizio Donadi, said: “The new Spiewak is an exercise in utility and simplicity. It’s a perfectly modern expression that fits the way people live now.” “We wanted people to experience these products and understand them through the lens of current culture and then discover that the brand is over a hundred years old,” he added. The AW14 collection will make its debut at London-based independent retailer Present later this month. Prices in the Golden Fleece line range from £389 for an MA-1 Flight Jacket to £769 for an N3B Snorkel Parka with Coyote fur trim.
