SS14 Limited Edition Tartan Collection

Tiger Of Sweden has teamed up with The London Cloth Company to create a limited edition pattern as part of its spring/summer 2014 collection. The collection launches as the Swedish brand celebrates 100 years of heritage. Ronnie McDonald, Head Menswear Designer at Tiger of Sweden, has produced the limited edition tartan collection with the help of Daniel Harris, founder of The London Cloth Company. “The project was all about my roots, clashing my Scottish roots and tradition with my new Swedish roots,” said McDonald. Tiger of Sweden was established in 1903 and has a long history in tailoring and handmade textiles. The woven design has been sewn into 100 jackets, 100 scarves and 6 kilts. Harris, the designer responsible for The London Cloth Company, has produced the tartan with a modern approach in mind. The self-taught weaver said: “We’ve also used a more course Shetland yarn which gives it more of a rough and ready appearance when it is finished.” Founded in October 2011, The London Cloth Company specialises in producing quality woven pieces, using traditional techniques rolled out on restored shuttle looms. On the tartan that has been integrated into each piece McDonald added: “For me tartan is more a season, less garment, used whenever you are in the right mood to wear it”. Blazers from the collection are priced at £199, kilts at £199 and scarves at £219. The full range is available to buy now at Tiger of Sweden stores, online and at Selfridges.
