Todd Snyder Menswear AW14 Collection
Todd Snyder looked to the sixties for inspiration for his latest collection. The American designer’s new line focuses on the spirit of musical references, pulling together the “rebellious with the gentsy”.
Contrasting colors and textures take centre stage in the AW14 offering from the former head of menswear. The range consists of tailored tuxedos, geometric patterned as well as burgundy knits, and silk burnt orange bomber jackets.
Snyder has also printed checks on his own high-tech fabrics to jar the traditional with more current trends. Jacquard dinner jackets can be seen alongside bonded nylon and micro-perforated leather.
Last year’s Vogue Fashion Fund finalist spoke of the approach, relating it back to the decade of rock.
“Back then, guys really liked to dress up, but they were also rebels. They had a great twist.”
Black dominates the collection, with the designer adding cobalt blue and olive green accents to the largely neutral colour palette.
“Whether he’s in New York, London, Tokyo or Chicago, I want my guy to feel comfortable, but also like he’s wearing the coolest things. If not, I haven’t done my job.”
Snyder recently announced plans to open a three-storey flagship in Tokyo next month, with further intentions of expanding retail space in New York.
The designer’s AW14 collection will be available later in the year from Mr Porter.
