The workwear kings at Carhartt WIP are remixing things this spring with a soulful collab. Kenny Dixon Jr, aka Detroit techno legend Moodymann, is bringing his experimental style to Carhartt WIP for a five-piece collection. The famed DJ and producer has previously worked with Lana Del Rey and Junior Boys, but we think this might be his most killer project yet.

The collection includes three shirts, a DJ bag, and a limited edition vinyl record. The two long sleeve shirts – the MMC Detroit Soul Skate and MMC Set U Free T-Shirts – are printed, monochrome pieces, while the MMC Triple Logo T-Shirt is a streetwear staple with an unexpected twist. Each shirt toys around with iconic graphics from Moodymann’s larger than life record labels, Mahogani Music and KDJ Records.

The star of the collection is the limited Carhartt WIP x Mahogani Music UDG Sling Bag Trolley Deluxe. Specially designed to protect vinyl and DJ gear during travelling, it can hold up to 60 records. The only thing it’s missing is the audience.

But what’s a musical collab without some actual music? To complete the hook-up, a limited seven-inch vinyl will hit the Carhartt WIP stores. It features a KDJ classic in a never released short version: Moodymann’s ‘J.A.N.’ from 2001. And on the B-side, there’s a brand new Moodymann cut, ‘5800 Cass Ave’. And the beat goes on with a Carhartt WIP Mahogani show mix, accompanying the collection and featuring Mahogani Music’s iconic sound.

Available in most Carhartt WIP Stores, on and at selected retailers from 26 February.
