That perfect balance between fashion and function is where the best pieces thrive. And slap bang in the centre of that Venn diagram is the most recent collaboration between Christopher Shannon and CAT Footwear. Putting a modern and luxurious twist on CAT’s classic workwear, the British designer proves that utilitarian doesn’t have to be boring.

For this third hook-up between the brands, Shannon has reworked CAT’s original ‘Walking Machine’ shoe, updating its design with a modernised shape and on-trend accents. But a style refresh hasn’t decreased CAT’s renowned functionality. The shoes are crafted from durable materials like leather, mesh and suede, and include features such as reflective webbing, laces and midsoles, as well as heavy rubber soles.

The collection is the semi-logical extension of the CAT boot’s popularity with ravers, who lusted after hardwearing footwear that didn’t shred your feet. One standout piece, the Open CAT Collaboration Trainer, features colourful laces, leather and mesh uppers, distinctive side cut-outs and a super-thick, arched sole that provides extra support and comfort. So you can stay for just one more tune.
