Space age style of the 1960s was all shiny silver suits and fish tank helmets, but what started with Neil Armstrong and his small steps for man has now resulted in one giant leap for trainer collaborations.
Made with rocket men in mind, the J Crew x New Balance 997 Moonshot trainers celebrate the anniversary of the historic 1969 Apollo 11 mission, which saw man first walk on the moon.
The lunar-inspired colourway consists of off-white pigskin suede upper to resemble the moon with midnight navy accents to mirror deep space. Each pair also comes wrapped in vacuum-packed silver packaging, similar to the food astronauts eat in orbit.
Consider it footwear from the final frontier.
The J Crew x New Balance 997 Moonshot trainers launch 20 July and will be available in J Crew’s Regent Street and Redchurch Street, London, stores and online, priced £160.
