We doffed our cap when Le Coq Sportif announced its intention to repatriate production of some of its high-end sneakers.
The brand set up a French factory, taught a new generation of workers how to make luxe trainers by hand, then produced the R800. Which, in all its hand-stitched, leathery glory, disappeared from shelves with the pace of Arthur Ashe crossing a baseline.
So you can understand why we’re so pleased to see another release of homegrown styles. The SS16 collection stars similarly luxurious takes on some of Le Coq’s classics, with the LCS R and Court MIF silhouettes getting the hand-made, full-grain leather and nubuck treatment.
Depending on how deep your pockets are, we’d advise copping in every colour, to show your patriotism during Rio. Because those shades are ours as well, you know.
The Le Coq Sportif Made In France pack is available now from lecoqsportif.com and select retailers.
