Rick Owens has made a name for himself turning out ugly trainers (and we mean that in the trend sense) particularly when teaming up with footwear giant Adidas. However, it has to be said of the dark designer’s ballsy creations — from his debut hoof-like soles to a follow-up inspired by stealth bomber aircrafts — each is decidedly more wearable than its predecessor. Following the trend, the just-dropped Mastodon Pro high top takes classic Adidas details such as the signature 3-stripe branding and shell toe cap and reworks them in Owen’s dark, grungy tones. Crafted from premium grain leather and sitting atop an oversized, exaggerated rubber midsole, the trainers come in both black and white colourways. The Mastodon Pro is available now, but don’t expect it to be around for long. After all, one man’s monstrous is another man’s must-have.
