When you hear ‘fashion dynasty’ you don’t immediately think of Vans. However, the US brand has shown an eye for skate style doesn’t fall far from the tree. In celebration of its 50th birthday, Vans is reissuing some of its most popular archive styles, dating back to its beginnings as The Van Doren Rubber Company in 1966. The collection of footwear, clothing and accessories, all kitted out with old-school colourways and graphics, has been pulled together by Steve Van Doren, the company’s vice president and son of co-founder Paul Van Doren. Each piece shows off a piece of Vans’ DNA, unchanged for almost half a century, and a timelessness that could well see the brand skating through another 50 years as the undisputed king of the half pipe. The 50th Anniversary Edition Van Doren Approved Collection will launch later this month in stores and online at Vans.
