Mr Porter Travel Grooming Kit Summer 2016
When transitioning between seasons, grooming cabinets need to be rearranged just as much as wardrobes.
Products used during hotter months need to combat a slew of evils that rob skin of moisture, bring about premature ageing, and send oil glands into overdrive, not to mention they should also feature a lighter, summery scent.
Taking out the legwork, Mr Porter has pulled together an edit of 13 travel- and full-sized products primed for all that and more. Some of our favourite bits include a Grapefruit Face Cleanser by Malin + Goetz, a Broad Spectrum Moisturiser SPF21 by Clinique For Men and a Purifying Mud Mask by Tom Ford.
Available at Mr Porter, priced £75.
Turnbull & Asser x Floris 71/72
Links between British shirtmaker Turnbull & Asser and expert perfumers Floris go beyond sharing the same street. Ian Fleming selected Floris’ No.89 as Mr. Bond’s scent of choice for Dr No, while Turnbull & Asser has outfitted a number of men who have played 007 over the years.
Attempting to bottle the same allure, the British names have come together to launch 71/72. Named after and based on the smell of T&A’s flagship location at 71/72 Jermyn Street, the eau de parfum is fresh, woody and aromatic.
Only 200 hand-poured units are on sale and we suspect some are being kept aside for the next Bond, whoever he (or she) may be.
Absolut Elyx x Dominic Jones Bottle Topper
Occasionally you realise there are some much-needed things missing from your man cave. Our list of the bare essentials this week may have sparked some ideas, but we forgot to mention a bottle of premium vodka carrying a £2,000 bespoke bottle topper (our bad).
That’s exactly what young, London-based jewellery designer Dominic Jones has created for Elyx, the premium arm of Absolut. The partnership is one of a series of upcoming projects from Absolut Elyx to raise awareness and funds for the charity Water For People, with 100 per cent of the proceeds donated.
Available at SHOWstudio, priced £2,000.
Dan Ward Swimwear
There’s never a bad time to be thinking about swimwear – after all, it’s always sunny somewhere – but with holiday season approaching it’s all the more pertinent. Consider what you swim in as your suit replacement while away, it’s what you’ll be conducting your beach-bound business in.
With that in mind, it makes sense to invest in quality like Dan Ward, which designs and produces its swimwear in the style hub of Italy. The brand is also turning out a greater number of lifestyle pieces such as T-shirts, bags and footwear, to assist on the walk to the bar (as all good assistants do).
Available at Dan Ward, priced £140 for swimwear.
Hackett Orange Leather Document Wallet
It’s not just clothing that needs to lighten up in summer, but also what you carry (and how much of it). Condense down to the daily essentials and tote everything in a fuss-free document holder.
Equally, use it as a sleek alternative to a briefcase, keeping files protected and winning big at client meetings and presentations from now until that next promotion.
Our pick is Hackett’s summer-ready orange iteration. Made from the finest Italian grain leather, it’s enough to catch the eye of any investor. We’re in.
Available at Hackett, priced £140.
Belstaff James Hunt 40th Anniversary Collection
Often what makes a brand even more stylish than its products are the stories associated with it. Founded in Stoke and famed for its biker gear, British heritage brand Belstaff has been on the backs of A-list actors, record-breaking speed demons and even the Pope for more than 90 years.
This time around Belstaff is celebrating 40 years since British racing hero James Hunt won the Formula One Championship, snatching victory from Austrian rival Niki Lauda by a single point. The six-piece anniversary collection references Hunt’s iconic red race suit and includes two leather jackets along with T-shirts, polo shirts and jeans.
Available at Belstaff, priced £95.
