London Fashion Week Men’s brings all sorts of trends to the fore, but often the style moves to really keep an eye out for aren’t on the runways, but outside the events. While we were busy at the shows, learning what’s coming up so we can get you ahead of the game, our photographer hit the streets to snap some of this season’s best-dressed attendees.

Boot Camp Blues

Bomber jackets are all well and good, but when the event calls for something slightly more formal, injecting a sense of occasion while maintaining a modern look can be tricky. This outfit uses an expertly cut overcoat to smarten a pair of rolled-up trousers and army-inspired boots for a tonal take on military style.

Green Is The Warmest Colour

You can always count on Irish fashion journalist and TV presenter Darren Kennedy to bring some finesse to LFWM. Green is one of the key colours for this and next season, so his pairing of moss and olive shades, along with the slightly lighter, looser fit trousers and weatherproof footwear (because, Britain) keeps this classic look from straying into boring.

Peaches & Cream

A peachy-pink puffa might not sound like the most awe-inspiring piece of menswear, but when this image emerged in the FashionBeans office, there were audible gasps. Oliver Cheshire’s baby-hued jacket, layered over a cream hoodie and teamed with slim fitting suit trousers, is redefining our ideas of smart-casual.

Suited & Booted

If pushing the boundaries of smart-casual isn’t for you, then sticking to a suit doesn’t have to be boring. Man-about-town Johannes Huebl sets off his check tailoring with a contrast spread-collar shirt and a knitted tie for a more interesting take on formalwear. Just be sure to size up the shirt to avoid puckering around the buttons.

50 Shades

When your outerwear is this good, you’d be daft not to let it speak for itself. This guy we snapped looking for his sunglasses was also busy giving a masterclass in coats. The block-colour design manages to make a statement while staying stylish thanks to the restrictive use of colour, and a black/grey/white palette means nothing else is fighting for attention.

Bear Necessities

If you can’t have fun with your clothes at fashion week, then when can you? This pink, dabbing bear hoodie will undoubtedly have caught everyone’s eye, but when paired with the statement (we hope faux) fur coat and rock-solid confidence, it jumps from naff market stall buy to major style statement. The tailored trousers and box-fresh Converse combo stops it short of fancy dress, and the overall look of Honey Monster-meets-hipster somehow just works.

Stay Classic

When all else fails, go back to basics. Crisp, white, retro trainers will always be in style, and although combining them with plain black chinos, a classic red buffalo check and a practical hooded jacket could keep this look pedestrian, the grey beanie and tinted shades add a cool, street style edge.

Skinny Love

Countless articles have killed off the skinny jean for 2017, but take a leaf from this guy’s book and wear them to balance out a chunkier coat and scarf combination. Paired with sleek boots in the same colour, they will also help elongate the leg – especially good if you’re on the shorter side or carry your weight around the mid-section.
