New Look AW13 Preview
New Look released its strongest menswear collection to date yet this summer, so the FashionBeans team had similar high hopes for the AW13 offerings when we went to the collection preview event – we weren’t disappointed.
The New Look man looks set to mature for AW13 as his summer of excess comes to an end and his wardrobe transitions to suiting separates and an overall more tailored approach. Having built upon their menswear offering season on season, it’s great to see New Look start to cater for the more discerning dresser – providing smart pieces at their typically affordable prices.
Sure, fun vests and statement shorts are great for long summer days and chilled moments poolside but come autumn, sharp fits, layering and clean lines take centre stage. And New Look’s range is set to help you achieve this desired aesthetic, with an altogether sleeker and more tailored offering than we have ever seen before.
Of course there is something in there for the more impromptu dressers amongst you; a selection of cable knit sweaters are perfect for layering under western-inspired denim jackets for a modern take on workwear, whilst fake fur is the texture of choice on padded parkas and trapper hats.
A darker theme emerged from one rail in the preview, with leather biker jackets becoming the focal point of what was clearly a nod to subcultures. Stud detailing reinforced this gritty, punk aesthetic and was applied to accessories such as backpacks and caps. Other classic outerwear from bygone youth movements (such as the MA1 bomber) were also updated and reworked in black for the coming season.
New Look’s AW13 range will start appearing in stores from August. In the meantime, browse through the lookbook images below and get your wish lists at the ready…
