McQueen & Hirst Combine For 10th Anniversary
Alexander McQueen is commemorating the ten year anniversary of its iconic skull motif with a limited edition, thirty-piece line masterminded by Damien Hirst.
The Gothic design has received numerous celebrity endorsements since first appearing in the fashion house’s spring/summer 2003 collection. However, the arrival of the new Hirst-inspired range provides the product with a timely re-injection of individuality.
The use of skulls is nothing new to the artist. Hirst is widely recognised for creating a platinum cast human skull encrusted with 8,601 flawless diamonds, which later went on to fetch a reported £50m at auction.
Whilst not asking for quite the same figure, the McQueen x Hirst collaboration certainly does not come cheap. the scarves – available in a variety of fabrics including chiffon, twill and cashmere – start from around £315, continuing up to £715.
However, each design features a strictly limited edition print, adapted from Hirst’s Entomology series, and comes complete with the Damien Hirst x Alexander McQueen collaboration logo and hand stitched edges.
The collection is available now from Alexander McQueen boutiques and online at AlexanderMcqueen.com.
