Alexander Wang has teamed up with Dr. Dre to create a limited edition collection of custom Beats products. The luxury range features the designer’s signature pale gold accent and matte black finish. Wang, who also juggles his role as Creative Director of Balenciaga, worked with the audio accessory leader to create a speaker, set of headphones and a pair of ear buds; each with their own embossed glossy stingray case with zipper and clip. Splitting his time between international fashion weeks, Wang admits that Beats are his favourite music accessories for travelling. He went on to add that he utilises the line’s headphones and portable speakers frequently on his trips around the world. “For this collaboration it felt right and a natural choice for me to give the Beats Studio headphones, Beats Pill and Urbeats earbuds a clean, minimal look with a luxe sensibility,” said Wang. “I have always looked to music and musicians for inspiration and as collaborators because there is such a purity to their talent. Different types of music can also transform how you interpret or understand a fashion show, or film. It’s creating a story and translating a message,” he added. The products will be offered in an exclusive pre-sale event on December 15th at beatsbydre.com. Public release of the range will follow on December 16th, available at both beatsbydre.com and Alexander Wang’s re-launched e-commerce site alexanderwang.com. Prices range between approximately £90 for the ear buds and £270 for the headphones.
