Aquascutum New London Store
Luxury brand Aquascutum has put previous financial troubles aside to open a brand new store on London’s Great Marlborough Street.
It was reported last year the British label had suffered difficulties despite holding several royal warrants. The brand closed its 110-year-old flagship store on Regent Street in 2011 and filed for administration shortly after following spiralling levels of debt.
The heritage name, previously owned by Jaeger, was saved after being acquired by Asia licensee and Chinese fashion retailer YMG Trading for £15m in a deal last year.
On the new opening Mark Taylor, Aquascutum’s Chief Operating Officer said:
“Returning to the West End provides the brand with a prime location for trading, and reinforces our fundamental objective; to maximise our presence within luxury retailing. The addition of the store to our portfolio highlights the exciting period of growth that we are embarking on.”
The space is Aquascutum’s fourth standalone in the capital and sits directly opposite the Liberty department store. It spans 4,456 square feet over two floors selling menswear, womenswear and its junior line.
The interior is sophisticated and uncluttered, with products neatly displayed on units and rails. Large suede sofas located throughout offer customers a comfortable rest stop during their visit.
In addition to the recent opening, Taylor confirmed the brand is searching for more prime retail space in Greater London to add to existing sites.
