ASOS Crafted In
As one of the largest independent and internet-only fashion retailers in the world, ASOS.com have spent a little over a decade building a reputation as the go-to destination for both menswear and womenswear. By dividing their attention between stocking big name brands and building a superb in-house line, they have all but cornered the online clothing market. This season, the focus is fixed firmly in-house as the ASOS design team introduce their latest range: a line of premium products dubbed ‘Crafted In’. ‘Crafted In’ is a capsule collection comprising a healthy assortment of knitwear, tailoring and denim, along with a complementary array of footwear and accessories to add the essential finishing touches to any outfit. Each piece has been designed with an emphasis on heritage fabrics and styling, using high-end materials such as Harris Tweed and waxed fabrics from the British Millerain Co. The Harris Tweed on offer comes courtesy of the tailoring department, which boasts single-breasted two button suits dyed in muted tones with subtle herringbone patterning. Acting as a counterpoint to this quintessentially British suiting, ASOS have also produced a beautifully rich navy double-breasted version in Italian wool – after all, the Italians know a thing or two about tailoring too. The outerwear perfectly complements the formal wear, with autumn-ready pea coats, again in Harris Tweed, woven in an on trend plaid that sits alongside waxed and tweed bomber jackets. Jeans come in a straight leg fit and are produced from premium Japanese selvedge denim, which is offered in four different indigo washes. Accessories in the ‘Crafted In’ line include a selection of chunky cable knit beanie hats and scarves whilst the footwear range features bold red and black colour ways and is made in Northampton, an area long considered to be the heart of British shoemaking.
