boohooMAN Launch

boohoo.com are launching boohooMAN for AW13. The Manchester-based company has experienced tremendous growth since launching in 2006 and established itself as a firm favourite with women who are looking for affordable, on point clothing each season. boohooMAN is the first in-house designed collection for men by the brand, which comes after a year of product development. The online retailer revealed BoohooMAN last week in a showcase that, naturally, we attended. The event was held in the home of London Collections: MEN, which was quite apt as there was more than a hint of inspiration drawn from designer collections.

“Menswear has become more fashion-focused and boohooMAN echoes that change. It is an exciting time to be part of the boohoo brand. The focus has been around creating key wardrobe staples, but at the same time offering a broad spectrum of product at really great prices.” Shane Chin, boohooMAN Designer

The collection comprises of lots of designer inspired looks that have been streamlined into four directional trends: Freshman, True Grit, Militarian and Vive Le Punk. Today we break down what you can expect from each…

Freshman Trend

You may have already noticed that one particular preppy American brand (Ralph Lauren) is currently taking over our fair capital city – beach house-looking pop-up shops seem to be springing up everywhere. boohooMAN takes the popularity of the American jock and gives it a more fashionable aesthetic, combining cable knits with contrast sleeve varsity jackets to create the ultimate take on collegiate style this autumn. The grey jogger is fast becoming one of FashionBeans‘ wardrobe staples for off-duty days, and the Freshman trend offered of a wide selection of new styles.

Vive Le Punk Trend

Using animal print and motifs as a jumping off point and giving them punk twist, this is a trend for the fashion brave. Whilst top-to-toe punk may not be for everyone, incorporating a splash of punk within an outfit could work as an edgy focal point. Our pick from this trend collection was the Lion Face Print Jacket; a perfect layering piece for cooler days. We also love all forms of acid wash denim, which will add a touch of character to any look.

True Grit Trend

This collection was built around wholesome, easy to wear pieces with a distinct 1970s feel. Brushed cotton lumberjack shirts are layered under shearling collared denims to create an updated country-inspired aesthetic for autumn 2013. Denim is cut slightly looser and has a worn, lived-in appeal, whilst classic desert boots complete the look. Militarian Trend Whilst camouflage remains a relevant print, this trend explores classic military styles such as MA1 jackets and more formal pea coats with epaulettes and statement buttons. Camo knits add an on trend touch of utilitarian style whilst bright beanies offered a contrast of colour.
