DRMTM AW13 Collection
Three fashion forces come together in the DRMTM AW13 collection: an affinity for 1990s street style, an appreciation for a classic hip-hop aesthetic and bright, on trend graphics and prints.
The confluence might be intentional. The website for DreamTeam (DRMTM) Clothing – a streetwear brand from Dusseldorf, Germany that launched in 2006 – indicates inspiration from Notorious B.I.G., whilst the AW13 collection is called ‘For Comfort & Love’, hinting at a fondness for simpler times.
At the same time, the 1990s have become streetwear’s greatest influence for both AW13 and SS14 collections, with high-end fashion brands pushing the trend at this year’s global fashion weeks. What’s particularly era-alluding, within DRMTM and similar AW13 streetwear collections, are the striking graphics and prominent slogans.
The slogan-laden design aesthetic popular at the decade’s tail end re-emerges, to a degree: whilst some of the brand’s shirts display its signature ‘DRMTM 82’ logo on the back, others have printed sayings such as the Rita Ora-inspired ‘Party & Bullsh-t’, as well as ‘Good Die Young’, ‘F-ck the World’ and ‘The Combination Made My Eyes Bleed’.
Beyond the tees and shirts, DMRTM brings back other 1990s key pieces, but with a focus on quality: black on black varsity jackets feature premium silk linings and the ‘Oxford Raglan Sweater’ comes complete with a zipped pocket to the front and a contrast fabric-blocked rear.
The collection is currently available for purchase and can be viewed on the brands website.
