Since then, Gagliardi has gone from strength to strength – and looking through the new autumn/winter 2013 collection from the Mediterranean brand, it is easy to see why…

Gagliardi Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection

This year’s autumn/winter collection derives its inspiration from the vintage ski resort Cortina d’Ampezzo, with Gagliardi offering the perfect mix of style, comfort and old school charm. They manage to do this by effectively combining fine traditional tailoring with soft and deconstructed pieces, and throwing in a dizzying range of warm colours to boot – it’s the kind of sartorial finesse favoured by Italian fashion connoisseurs. Adopting a rich, seasonally-appropriate palette of Bordeaux, Purple, Winter White, Warm Mustard, Rusty Orange, Forest Green, Smoky Grey and Icy Blue, the collection is the epitome of versatility – garments can be mixed and matched effortlessly, allowing you to put together a wide range of looks without having to sacrifice your individuality.

Blazers & Jackets

Blazers and jackets are where Gagliardi come into their own. Open the jacket and the capricious blue lining adds a further touch of luxury to this hunting-inspired piece. Next in line for praise is perhaps the most practical staple ingredient of the collection. Take lightweight quilting, cut it like a jacket, create it in two versatile colours and you have got the unique Gagliardi quilted jacket with a water resistant finish. Extremely easy to wear, and trimmed with delicate Alcantara leather, it comes in either navy or a dark grey melange and promises to become the perfect traveller’s jacket. Roll it up, stuff it in your holdall and throw it on with everything in your suitcase. If you’re looking for something a little less formal to wear at the weekend, try the superb denim-look jacket or the wide selection of washed cotton jackets that cry out to be combined with a coloured pair of chinos or cords.
