Ever wanted to get inside the head of design legend Paul Smith? Well this November, you can! The Design Museum, London, will be hosting a special exhibition, charting the creation, inspiration, collaboration and beauty which make up the world of Paul Smith. The event, entitled ‘Hello, My Name is Paul Smith’, will take visitors on an in-depth look at Smith’s artistic influences, document his rise to the upper echelons of the fashion world and show what is in store for the future of the brand. Smith will personally select the collections that will go on display, along with providing voice and video narration – placing you directly inside the mind of the designer. Along with experiencing the artistic mind of one of the world’s most prominent creatives, visitors will be given insight into his shrewd business acumen. They will see how a thorough understanding of the relationship between designer and retailer laid the foundations for his company’s lasting success. Displays will include a recreation of Paul’s personal office, along with his first Nottingham shop (which measured just 3m x 3m). Books and other objects of inspiration will on view, along with jewellery, art and antiques that complement the clothing collections. These will be enriched via projections, audio and film clips displaying fashion shows and behind-the-scenes footage – revealing the inner workings and influences of the Paul Smith. Both the man, and the brand. ‘Hello, My Name is Paul Smith’ will run from 15 November 2013 – 9 March 2014.
