Joseph Turvey x River Island
High Street stalwart River Island has announced plans for a collaborative SS14 collection with British designer Joseph Turvey. A dynamic presence of London Collections: MEN’s Fashion East showcase, Turvey has been tipped as one of contemporary menswear’s foremost rising talents since graduating from The London College of Fashion in 2012, with a masters in Menswear Design Technology. The designer’s fresh and unique use of innovative prints and experimental fabric combinations have earned him acclaim and recognition from leading industry authorities, including London Fashion Week’s ‘One to Watch’ and Vauxhall Fashion Scout. The Shropshire-born designer’s memorable AW13 collection drew on four-legged friends as inspiration, with black and white Dalmatian spots and humorous canine prints defining the collection. The SS14 line, on the other hand, impressed with its originality, showcasing illustrated pastel-wash floral patterns and boldly juxtaposed hues inspired by the tale of a female 1950s racing driving making her mark in a male-dominated world. The SS14 collaboration with River Island is expected to fuse Turvey’s playful offbeat design sensibilities with the street-savvy youthful appeal of the London-based brand.

Playing on Turvey’s signature use of technical fabrics and statement prints, the collection will consist of a range of sports luxe separates and neoprene accessories, including jersey sweat tops and bombers featuring pink camouflage print. The eagerly anticipated collection will be available from the end of February 2014, in store and online at RiverIsland.com.
