Barbour x adidas Originals For AW14
Leading lifestyle brand adidas is continuing its busy season with plans to work with yet another brand. Barbour, the historic British name behind waxed cotton jackets, is the latest to confirm a partnership with the label, with the pair set to release a limited edition collection of clothing and footwear.
Originals is the heritage arm of the sportswear giant. Recognised by the Trefoil logo, the line is responsible for bringing old styles from the adidas archive back to life.
The firm is to combine the approach with Barbour’s reputation for quality, with the result intended to be a “new and desirable” proposition.
German brand adidas is no stranger to collaborations, having previously teamed up with the likes of Opening Ceremony, Jeremy Scott and Noel Gallagher.
Barbour, meanwhile, is a brand familiar with high-end projects, having released collections alongside Sir Paul Smith and Christopher Raeburn to great success.
Paul Wilkinson, Barbour’s Global Head of Marketing, said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with adidas Originals. It is a premium brand renowned for creating innovative and exclusive products based on its heritage. Like Barbour, adidas Originals is all about quality.”
Wilkinson also discussed the collection, which will be available from both brand’s stores: “Taking inspiration from our archives, and working with the adidas Consortium team, we have been able to create products that cleverly combine modernity with tradition reflecting the best of both brands. It’s really exciting to be working with them.”
In a statement Daniel Bauer, Business Unit Director at adidas Originals, added: “The collaboration with Barbour is a truly inspiring and exciting partnership. Both brands share a rich heritage, long history and dedication to deliver premium products, which was driving both teams through the creation process. We are privileged being able to work with Barbour and are proud of the collection.”
The range will be available at adidas Consortium partner stores and selected Barbour retail stores worldwide from October 2014. There are currently no further details about what is included in the line or price points.
