Club Monaco has teamed up with fellow US brand Saucony to produce a limited edition version of one of the footwear company’s archive designs. The premium lifestyle label’s head of men’s design, Aaron Levine, based the collaboration on Saucony’s eighties Jazz Low Pro style. Now known as the Courageous Sneaker, it features a suede upper in neutral and black colour ways, pigskin lining and speckled sole. Priced at £105, the trainers are available exclusively via Club Monaco’s newly opened Redchurch Street store. To coincide with the launch, British model and DJ Jack Guinness has been tapped to appear in a series of images shot in London. Levine said he recalled wearing the Saucony trainers in his youth. “We had the chance to visit them at their headquarters and dig through some of their archives. When we found the Courageous, it was very exciting. Through its iconic design and the way we upgraded the materials…we really wound up with a beautiful product we’re all enthusiastic about.” In August the brand opened its first men’s flagship store in London, before also launching its AW14 collection via menswear e-tailer Mr Porter. The Club Monaco x Saucony Courageous Sneaker model is available to buy now.
