Scottish Brands Team Up For Coming Season
Two of Britain’s best known Scottish brands have come together for AW14, with Lyle & Scott and Jonathan Saunders teaming up on a joint menswear collection. The project merges Saunders’ graphic designs with Lyle & Scott’s recognisable branding to deliver a 30-piece range across clothing, outerwear and footwear. Knitted styles in the collection are Royal Warranted and produced in the pair’s home county, in addition to merino wool mid-layers made in Italy. Non-knitwear pieces include Lyle & Scott’s classic polo shirt, woven button down shirts, a Harrington sports jacket and two pairs of shoes. A mix of neons and neutral tones has been used across stripe, argyle and polka dot printed pieces, mirroring Saunders’ own collections. Colour-block pieces offer an understated option, accompanied by Lyle & Scott’s trademark eagle logo in four different colours. Glasgow-born Saunders, who won Breakthrough Menswear Designer at GQ‘s Man of the Year Awards in 2013, revealed the collaboration at London Collections: Men in January earlier this year. Prices in the collection are higher than in Lyle & Scott’s mainline range, with t-shirts starting at £70 and reaching up to £275 for the Harrington jacket. Lyle & Scott x Jonathan Saunders autumn/winter 2014 is available to buy now in store at Liberty, and online at Present, Oki-Ni and Lyle & Scott’s webstore.
