MAN Announces Designer Line-up For Spring/Summer 2015
MAN, the joint venture between Fashion East and Topman, has announced its designer line-up for London Collections: Men SS15. The British Fashion Council has confirmed Bobby Abley’s place in the first slot of the support scheme, following a successful AW14 show. He will be joined by Liam Hodges and Nicomede Talvera, since previous recipients Craig Green and Alan Taylor have gone on to pursue solo projects. This will be Abley’s third appearance under the MAN banner, placing the Scarborough born designer in the alumni alongside Richard Nicoll and Christopher Shannon. Liam Hodges, a Royal College of Art graduate renowned for his loose streetwear style, is already endorsed by celebrities, including Drake. Alongside Hodges will be Nicomede Talavera: a south Londoner who made his debut at Fashion East last season with a selection of graphic tailoring. Talavera’s work has recently received the attention of Japanese heavyweight, Comme Des Garçons. MAN was launched mirroring the same formula of Lulu Kennedy’s Fashion East womenswear set up. The initiative was set up to support three up-and-coming menswear designers each season. Since 2005, it has produced success stories such as Christopher Shannon, Agi & Sam and Katie Eary. Fashion East, founded in 2000, and MAN are both non-profit schemes. The program receives sponsorship funding from Topman, Topshop and The Greater London Authority. Recipients receive a bursary, free venue and complete catwalk show production. The MAN SS15 show will take place at 3pm on the Sunday of the three-day menswear event, which runs from 15-17th June 2014. More information can be found at LondonCollections.co.uk.
