Nike Partners With Red Devils To Welcome New Sponsor
Manchester United has officially unveiled the first kit under its new sponsorship deal with Chevrolet.
The American-owned Premier League side has added the car manufacturer’s logo to the front of the red shirt, taking over from Aon for the 2014/15 season.
The collarless design, created by Nike, features a button unique to the shirt, as well as white with red and black trims on the cuffs.
A small black devil taken from the club crest also appears on the back of the shirt below the neck.
Performance and technology is covered by Nike’s Dri-Fit fabric, laser-cut ventilation holes, mesh panels and 3D body scan fit; all seen in the recently unveiled Celtic third kit.
Chevrolet is the red devil’s fifth sponsor, following stints with Sharp, Vodafone and AIG.
At $600m (£360m), the deal is thought to be the biggest to date, securing the firm a place on the chest of players such as Luke Shaw, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck for the next seven seasons.
The shirt will make its debut on 23rd July in a friendly against LA Galaxy as part of the team’s summer tour of America.
A video created to advertise the new kit looks back at a number of historic strips, before Wayne Rooney introduces the 2014/15 player uniform.
The new home kit is available to pre-order now, priced at around £49.99, with in store and online sales expected to kick off on 16th July.
