Penfield Launches SS14 Accessories Range
Penfield has extended its accessories offering for SS14. The US firm is rolling out hats, ties, belts, iPad cases, wallets and wash bags, alongside tents, just in time for the festival season. Originally a cold-weather focused label, Penfield has become more active in the spring/summer market as it increasingly looks to establish itself as a 360 degree lifestyle name. Bags play a major part in the collection, with bold designs and prints being applied to traditional silhouettes such as backpacks and totes. The collection also makes use of a wide range of head wear, from retro bucket hats and caps to a new sporty visor. Styles have been matched with eye-catching design as bright colours and prints are brought into play. Established in Hudson, Massachusetts in 1975 by Harvey Gross, the company has grown to encompass outerwear pieces that are reflective of all seasons. Penfield’s CEO and Creative Director, James Barshall, said: “While we will always be committed to offering the highest quality classic outerwear, a huge part of our approach is versatility, encouraging our customers to create their own looks that complement their lifestyle and work within their respective environments.” “The increased focus on spring/summer has happened very naturally,” he added. The addition of warm-weather wares help provide the most comprehensive collection to date, mirrored in the accessories on display. Barshall went on to discuss the starting point for incorporating prints, bright warm block-colours and softer pastel hues: “With the SS14 prints in particular, we focused on the dreams of high summer days at the beach and on the trail,” he said. “From the moment we started to develop the prints for SS14 we were keen to translate these across all parts of the collection, including the accessories line.” The new range dropped in batches throughout February, with the whole line released in recent days.
