Exhibition Focused On Facial Hair Set To Launch In March

Whether we’ve reached ‘peak beard’ or not, Somerset House’s curators are still very much fans. The beautiful neoclassical building, also home to London Fashion Week, is set to host a photography exhibition celebrating facially hirsute gentleman in March this year. There has been an ongoing discussion surrounding the popularity of beards over the last few seasons. While to some it seems a contentious subject, the majority of gents we know who have grown them aren’t having the same issue. As mentioned in our recent style anxieties feature, beards look great on some men, becoming an integral part of their look, and aren’t set to go away any time soon. With that in mind, Beard at Somerset House is an abundance of inspiration if you’re still considering developing that stubble into something more defined. The show features over 80 portraits of various pogonophiles, including John Hurt, Ricki Hall, Billy Huxley and artist Gavin Turk, all shot by photographer Mr Elbank. Each firmly securing their place as modern facial hair icons, the subjects of Elbank’s photographs confirm that a fully developed beard is an impressive thing and a defining characteristic of the 21st century man. Take a look at our top 6 #beardspo images from the exhibition, below, if you still need convincing. Beard runs from 5-29 March at the Terrace Rooms, South Wing, Somerset House, Strand, London, WC2R 1LA.
