Who: David Gandy

Where: Aspinal Presentation, London Fashion Week

It comes as little surprise that David Gandy, king of the classic suit, is just as sharp with off-duty looks. The rough and ready shearling leather jacket is countered with well-fitting, tailored separates, resulting in a perfectly balanced outfit. As per usual.

Who: John Legend

Where: London

Who’s the daddy? John Legend, that’s who. Hollywood’s sharpest papa dropped a masterclass in statement, anchoring a tricky floral pilot jacket with wearable monochromes throughout (and mandatory adorable offspring). Daddy cool, and then some.

Who: J Hus

Where: The Mercury Music Prize Album Of The Year, London

Grime’s latest greenhorn is no freshman in the style stakes. At the Mercury Music Prize awards last week, J Hus – he of ‘Did You See’ fame – cut through the noise with an embroidered jumper cleverly grounded with a plain underlayer up-top and foolproof trousers and sneaks below.

Who: Dave Franco

Where: The Lego Ninjago Movie Premiere, Los Angeles

Dave Franco may be the less experienced of the acting brothers, but he is quickly becoming the better-dressed. The red carpet saw the 32-year-old tap the latest tailoring trend: the printed shirt and two-piece. This time, with a Band Of Outsiders shirt that chimed with an earth-tone, glove-fit suit. Take note, James.

Who: Donald Glover

Where: 69th Primetime Emmy Awards

Childish Gambino’s grown up. Though not too much. At the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, Glover moved statement dressing into a maturer age group, nixing black for purple in the most wearable of red carpet shells – the tuxedo. Leave generic to the geriatrics.

Who: Liam Payne

Where: Emporio Armani Show After Party, London

When Liam Payne released ‘Strip That Down’, we didn’t think it’d entail his wardrobe, too. The 24-year-old dressed down a textured dinner jacket with ultra casual (and ultra well-fitted) staples, resulting in a luxe, but pared back look that’s set to go platinum.

Who: Alexander Skarsgård

Where: 69th Primetime Emmy Awards HBO Party, Los Angeles

As the newly-minted recipient of the Emmy award for outstanding supporting actor, Alexander Skarsgård is a winner on all fronts. And for that, we’d like to thank his razor-sharp tux, a beyond-flattering choice made memorable by a waistcoat beneath. No wonder Nicole Kidman couldn’t keep her hands off.

Who: Oliver Cheshire

Where: Kingsman: The Golden Circle Premiere, London

Any star on the red carpet would be hard-pressed to outdo the Kingsman cast, yet Oliver Cheshire manages it with aplomb. The double-breasted suit (part of Mr Porter’s exclusive Kingsman range) is a pivot away from the usual , while the pinstripe elongates and flatters the 29-year-old’s frame. 007 can do one, frankly.

Who: Toby Huntington-Whiteley

Where: Kingsman: The Golden Circle Premiere, London

As Rosie takes some mat leave, it’s nice to see her younger sibling Toby flying the Huntington-Whiteley banner in style. The lightly checked two-piece is a sharp way to add depth and texture to a look, with a simple ribbed knit underneath adding a quiet but welcome contrast.
