Who: Anthony Joshua

Where: Glamour Women Of The Year Awards, London

Fresh from beating Klitschko, Anthony Joshua lost the boxer shorts in favour of something a touch more refined at the 2017 Glamour awards. The classic double-breasted blazer is a punchy way to flatter broader frames (like he needs it), while a tie-free shirt puts stuffiness on the ropes.

Who: Robbie Rogers

Where: GLSEN LA Pride Celebration, Hollywood

Not as bold as a rainbow flag, perhaps, but Robbie Rogers’ look at the GLSEN LA Pride Celebration was no less memorable. The LA Galaxy winger opted for a Mr Ripley-esque polo shirt with slim trousers – tucked in for a neater edge, but still far removed from three-piece formality.

Who: Charlie Casely-Hayford

Where: Topman’s Fine Tailoring Dinner, London

When pops is an acclaimed designer and creative director at one of Savile Row’s leading tailors, the shoes are Goliath-sized. Lucky, then, that Charlie Casely-Hayford fills them with aplomb. At Topman’s fine tailoring dinner, the 34-year-old went classic in a two-piece, but swerved monotony with a striped shirt and knitted tie. Must run in the family.

Who: Joe Jonas

Where: Los Angeles

Proof that not all country fans are glue-sniffing rednecks, Joe Jonas paid tribute to the Deep South while traipsing LA in a Jon Wolfe tee. Which may sound oh-so-ironic in an oh-so-hipster way. But DNCE’s frontman tempered the novelty with failsafe monochrome that’s more uptown than S-Town.

Who: Seth Tringale

Where: The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, New Jersey

Magnolia: a term no longer interchangeable with dull, or so says Seth Tringale. During a photo op at a Veuve Clicquot event, the New York socialite opted for a symphony of lighter shades, with top-to-bottom neutrals packing a quiet summer statement.

Who: Nicolas Simoes

Where: Coach And Friends Of The High Line Summer Party, New York

Modelling isn’t all Prada couture and gloryhole trousers. Okay, it kind of is. But that didn’t stop Nicolas Simoes cutting a cooler (and far more wearable) figure at Coach’s summer party. The Instabait model opted for foolproof monochrome up-top and added texture with grey denim below.

Who: Justin Theroux

Where: LAX Airport

Tinseltown’s premier terminal plays runway to countless celebs, and Justin Theroux followed the same flight path with this modern rocker look. Jen An’s other half flexed all the usual concert staples – suede biker jacket, aviators, rough denim – but left echoes of a mid-life crisis firmly on the tarmac.

Who: Luke Evans

Where: The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, New Jersey

If, like Luke Evans, you fancy yourself a style mafioso, take cue from his homage to New Jersey dons. Against the backdrop of Veuve Cliquot’s polo party, the Welsh actor made a linen suit Godfather material thanks to a simple T-shirt, a glove-like fit and all the right accessories. An offer no man should refuse this summer.

Who: Brooklyn Beckham

Where: London

Brooklyn Beckham sure is his mother’s son. And we’re not just talking about the glum photo face. At Wonderland magazine’s summer launch party, Vicky and Dave’s eldest proved that the all-black look is as foolproof as it is flattering. Reason to be cheerful, mate.

Who: Pierce Brosnan

Where: LAX Airport

Years after hanging up his PPK, Pierce Brosnan is still schooling America in how to be suave. The former Bond upgraded a classic white and black combo to first class thanks to a choice suede overshirt.
