Last year, car enthusiasts were treated to a Mercedes concept car that literally left people drooling: the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6. The coupe was six metres of streamlined beauty – with LED lights, a split hood and chrome grille. Its interior featured a wraparound glass screen spanning the entire width of the windshield, with a touchscreen display to finish. Somehow, it managed to look both vintage and slap-in-the-face futuristic at the same time. And now, one year on, the concept is back – in drop-top form. The 2017 Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet was unveiled at Pebble Beach, California, drawing a lot of comparisons to the coupe, but promising a lot more. The 19-foot-long model has an impressive 750 horsepower. And like its predecessor, the Cabriolet can get to 60mph in under four seconds and is also fully run on electric motors. It has a white interior, and an extended hood (under which is custom luggage), giving it an all-round nautical, vintage finish. So far, it’s just a concept, of course – but if this is what electric cars will look like, the future can’t come soon enough.
