The closest thing you’ll find to a youth elixir is the waiting list for a Harley Street plastic surgeon. But since going under the knife is a big decision – and a costly one – you’ll have to make do with what’s in your kitchen. Which, according to one expert, is as good a place as any to get handsome.

Speaking to Refinery29, London-based skincare maven Su-Man listed one particular fruit as a little-known grooming hack: watermelon.

Not only is the wonderfruit good for hydration, being 96% water (unsurprising, given the name), watermelon is also packed full of age-defying essentials. “The citrulline, an amino acid, improves blood circulation and works as a natural exfoliator, while lycopene, a phytonutrient, is an anti-inflammatory,” said Su-Man.

“Rich in antioxidants that protect the body from free radicals, watermelon is great at treating the signs of ageing,” which, in turn, is even more beneficial to men who struggle with dry or flaky skin.

We’ll take a slice of that over a surgeon’s knife any day.
