Who: Jeff Goldblum
Where: London, UK
Even with his tie flying about like a crisp packet aimlessly wandering the streets (poetic, we know) actor and all-round hunk of suave Jeff Goldblum knows what he’s doing with this outfit, chucking on a brown corduroy jacket to contrast tonally and texturally from the smooth black underneath.
Who: Rami Malek
Where: ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Film Screening, San Francisco
If for just one day we could dip ourselves head-to-toe in Saint Laurent like Rami Malek here then we’d dunk ourselves in like it’s an all-you-can-eat fondue party. We’d even just settle for a solitary dive into that luxe but casual faux fur teddy jacket, which would go with anything really but looks even smarter dressed up with some wool trousers and black suede boots.
Who: Kendrick Sampson
Where: Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, Los Angeles
All orange is only a look a pumpkin could pull off, or if it’s Halloween, a slutty pumpkin, but actor Kendrick Simpson is neither and he’s looking pretty fly here. The hazy pastel tone helps, as does the clean, crisp white shirt underneath and a refined double-breasted jacket peaked to perfection.
Who: Timothée Chalamet
Where: ‘Beautiful Boy’ Film Premiere, Los Angeles
Father Christmas has come to town in his red suit and he’s making a bee-line for fashion week. Or rather, heartthrob Timothée Chalamet is repping fire tailoring with a Louis Vuitton suit that was one of the stand-outs from artistic director Virgil Abloh‘s first collection for the fashion house.
Who: Charlie Casely-Hayford
Where: IWC Schaffhausen Gala Dinner, London
The relaxing of dress codes has pushed evening wear onto the fashion sidelines of late, but a velvet jacket as sported here by designer and fashion royalty Charlie Casely-Hayford is one way of relaxing a strict dress code while keeping your look prim and proper at the same time.
Who: Toby Huntington-Whiteley
Where: Yatay Launch, London
One of the rising stars in the young British fash pack, Toby Huntington-Whitely has his basics imperiously in check here, the suede jacket adding structure to a top-half that would look bare with a lone turtleneck, while the roll-up on the jeans prevents unsightly bunches around the hem.
Who: Quavo
Where: American Music Awards, Los Angeles
How much bling can one man feasibly cram into his ‘fit? A treasure chest’s worth if we’re going by this suited and booted look from Migos member Quavo. Luckily the slim fit and flecks of grey pattern in the suit keep all that ‘shiver me timbers’ silver in check.
Who: Jake Gyllenhaal
Where: ‘The Kindergarten Teacher’ Film Screening, New York
Bombing into the list this week, A-lister Jake Gyllenhaal opts for a clean-cut off-duty look on the red carpet, proving just how many easy menswear points can be scored by building your outfit around a simple white tee.
Who: Jordan Barrett
Where: The Four Seasons of Tiffany Jewellery Collection Launch, New York
For every all-black street style goth papped to smithereens through fashion week (look no further than resident all-black badass Justin Theroux) there’s a flailing am-dram student getting lost in the shadows. Model Jordan Barrett gives the all-black a good stab this week though, with the cropped trouser and rolled up sleeves flashing the tan and in the process breaking up a tricky menswear power move.
Who: Khalid
Where: American Music Awards, Los Angeles
A true hypebeast never lets on his true beastly nature, and so while singer Khalid might be flashing the labels (hyped up Milanese brand Palm Angels among them), it’s all part of a carefully crafted look with the joggers tapered to reveal those chunky trainers which are in turn mirrored by Khalid’s glossy black jacket.
