After purchasing my b-e-a-utiful Obey Warfield parka I realised my footwear was just not up to scratch. I mean a big coat like that deserves some chunky boots poking out from underneath it. Am I right? Of course I’m right!
Without hesitation I grabbed my coat, put my headphones in and wandered up the road towards the tube station ready to tackle London town and find me some boots. However, my journey hit a rather large speed bump when I was greeted with a bus replacement service. Not fair. I trudged back home and turned the laptop on and in all honesty I didn’t expect to find a thing. Scouring the internet for clothes is my obsession and I’ve never found a chunky pair of brogues that have taken my fancy. Until now.
Bertie has been around since 1974 and is now part of The Dune Group. Dedicated to finding and designing the best looking footwear and selling it on to us, the new Colindale boot fits that statement entirely.
By combining the formal brogue detailing found on the leather upper with a thick white rubber sole, the boot is transformed into a casual alternative to trainers. The lighter shade of tan used reinforces this more relaxed and casual feel as black or brown, although timeless, can sometimes look too smart when paring with coloured chinos or your trusty denims.
Light and comfortable, I’m partnering mine with slim fit navy jeans (perched just behind the tongue to show off as much of the boot as possible) and my dark grey parka left lazily open.
Now with £30 off until the end of February, you can get them for £85 over at John Lewis.
Looking good isn’t important, it’s everything.
