Hood By Air x Corgi Collaboration
Selfridges unveiled the unexpected and ingenious partnership between New York-based Hood By Air and British label Corgi in June as part of London Collections: MEN. Now this most talked about collaboration is set to hit the shop-floor in the form a limited edition ten-piece capsule collection, conceived by the Selfridges buying team. From today the collection will be housed within the ‘Men’s Contemporary’ space of Selfridges on floor one. The range offers a subversive take on knitwear and references school uniforms, cross-dressing club kids and surfers – described by designer Shayne Oliver as “what beach bums wear when the sun goes down”. Pieces will be in-keeping with the brand’s minimalistic, Gothic aesthetic and include vests layered over jumpers, cage sweats with cutaway panels and oversized hockey jerseys, all emblazoned with the label’s statement HBA logo. They come in black, white, navy blue and burgundy colour ways. Although HBA’s collection was born in New York, Wales is the place of realisation, with production taking place in Corgi’s 120-year-old factory – ensuring the quality and level of detail the company are renowned for. The collection made its debut in an incredible presentation which saw Selfridges’ car park transformed into a skate-park-come-nightclub, in the New York Street Powerhouse’s first official UK showcase. Prices for the collection range from £400 – £675 and are available exclusively from Selfridges London.
