Shipley and Halmos
Shipley and Halmos believe that their creative influences stem from an array of sources and never just a single individual or location. Ideas boards for their collections can be formed from images, colour, space or materials, which can either inhabit their environment momentarily or permanently. The brand’s new spring/summer 2013 collection is entitled ‘The Unknown Artist’, with the title acknowledging the people who have sculptured the brand’s design process, without them ever really knowing their true identity. To reinforce the duo’s happiness of not knowing exactly who’s work it was that shaped their current collection, they have dedicated a sweatshirt to the cause – the khaki coloured wardrobe staple features ‘Unknown Artist’ emblazoned across the front, and is one of our key picks from the range. The sweater captures the fun nature of brand, especially when combined with an image from the photoshoot, which is shot using various cut out faces of artists to replace the models. The brand’s aim is to design essential pieces that enhance and update items from previous seasons. They realise that true style-conscious gents don’t need a complete wardrobe overhaul every six months – just a couple of investment pieces that seamlessly integrate within their current wardrobe and help bring their looks
