The Cambridge Satchel Company Opens New Pop-Up
The team behind Britain’s brightest bags has opened a brand new pop-up store in London. The Cambridge Satchel Company has signed the lease in Spitalfields for sixth months, with the intention to extend permanently should the space be successful.
This is the brand’s third standalone store with one in their home town of Cambridge and another in Covent Garden already in place.
On announcing the new store Julie Deane, who founded the brand with £600 in 2008, said:
“There is one part of London that has long been home to vintage, and from December 2013 it is also home to us – we are proud to announce the arrival of London East, our pop-up shop at Spitalfields just in time for Christmas”
The pop-up is spacious enough to showcase the array of products on offer from the label, which is now estimated to be worth £10m. Exposed brickwork and minimal sleek shelving adding to the East London feel of the store.
The location will stock the best selling Classic Satchels, Batchels, Music Bags and Backpacks, as well as exclusive in store collections and seasonal specials. In addition to their famous satchels, the company also produces a line of storage trunks priced at £149.50. A special white edition will be available exclusively from the store throughout its stay.
To celebrate the opening, Deane hosted a launch party with friends of the brand. Brokers Gin cocktails created especially for the evening and named after top selling styles were served to guests. In tribute to their new East London location the Cambridge company also dished out locally produced mini bagels courtesy of caterers Engine Dogs along with sweet treats by Hotel Chocolat.
The pop-up, which offers an in-house embossing and gift wrapping service, can be found at 16 Lamb Street until next year.
