Japanese Footwear Firm Merges Trainer And Boot Styles
Young Japanese footwear brand Onitsuka Tiger has given FashionBeans an exclusive first look at its Harandia MT Suede Boot, due for release this week. The lightweight style, made from water-repellent suede and inspired by winter running, will launch in three colourways; dark grey, dark blue with olive, and tan. The high top design aims to provide comfort and support through the use of gel padding technology. This, fused with a SoLyte midsole and High Abrasion Rubber, creates a boot with the cushioning of a trainer according to a statement. The lace ups also feature stitched panels across the body and the brand’s signature Tiger stripes on the sides. A rubberised Onitsuka Tiger logo is stamped on the heel, with an additional ‘Kobe, Japan Est. 1949’ motif on the tongue. Onitsuka Tiger is one of the oldest shoe companies in Japan, founded by 32-year-old former military officer, Kihachiro Onitsuka, to raise postwar youth morale through sport and athletics. The Harandia MT Suede Boot is priced at £103 and available Friday 1st August from Onitsuka Tiger stores, select stockists and online.
