J.Crew Announces West London Expansion

FashionBeans has learnt of plans by J.Crew to open a new store in Sloane Square. The West London space will be the American’s fourth UK location. The 4,500 sq ft corner opening takes over from previous tenants, Links of London. Neighbours will include the likes of Hackett, Loro Piana and Thomas Pink. Creative director and president, Jenna Lyons, said the firm had its eye on the area for while, but made an offer “more quickly than anticipated”. According to reports the building will be transformed into a ‘living garden’ in association with insect conservation charity Buglife. The interior will house the brand’s menswear and womenswear lines, as well as handbags, cashmere and the Ludlow suit range. Despite operating a total of 267 stores globally, only eight per cent of those can currently be found in the capital. However, the brand is showing faith in the UK market, expanding three-fold since the first residence opened in November 2013. The new J.Crew store in Sloane Square will be open from September 2014. Meanwhile, the brand can be found at its three other locations on Brompton Road in South Kensington, Regent Street and menswear-only store on Lamb’s Conduit Street.
