Does the adidas R&D department ever sleep? The sportswear Goliath has just unveiled the Ultra Boost Uncaged and, despite sounding like something you’d wear to a very friendly party in Vauxhall, it’s a trainer that’s anything but sadistic.
A spin on the ultraBOOST, which released last year to light up your sprint sessions (or, more likely, street style shots), the new shoe ditches the lacing cage but keeps the original’s springy sole unit.
Its new Primeknit upper is optimized for natural movement, but doesn’t sacrifice foot support; a rigid heel design keeps feet locked in place while a multi-tiered system ensure laces stay flat – so you can’t blame blisters for shirking out of the morning run.
Although realistically, you’ll keep lapping the park in your knackered Nikes, because it would be a shame to sully such a beautiful design with mud or sweat. So they can join those luxe joggers in the sportswear-you’d-never-wear-to-do-sports-in drawer.
Available 29 June from adidas.
