There’s a lot you can learn from pioneering Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, chiefly where to shop for your winter wardrobe. The legendary adventurer chose to wear heritage brand Jaeger (among other solid British names) while conquering Poles over his 20-year career.
Fast-forward to 2016, and we doubt Shackleton would have any worries putting his trust in the retailer’s joint expedition with celebrated menswear designer Lou Dalton.
Launching this week, the pair’s capsule line is a masterclass in cold-weather dressing. Made up of 16 pieces inspired by Jaeger’s archives, the contemporary, outerwear-led collection combines rich history with Dalton’s love of performance fabrics.
In short, it’s a selection of winter armoury that puts functionality at the forefront, including a nylon trench with removable flannel gilet, a showerproof stretch nylon hooded jacket and a mixed-gauge wool sweater, alongside a balaclava, gloves and snood.
Take a look at the best pieces below and start planning how to navigate the frigid days ahead in style.
The Lou Dalton x Jaeger autumn/winter 2016 collection will be available from 12 September in stores and online.
