The smell of sport isn’t all deep heat, sweat and mud. For its collaboration with Hawaiian brand Town & Country Surf Designs, Le Coq Sportif has applied the coconut scent of surfboard wax to two new versions of its LCS R800 running trainer. The summery drop offers up new colourways of the 1990s trainer, each with the fragrance incorporated into the outsole. The first uses a mix of turquoise and violet against white mesh and grey suede, while the other plays on T&C’s black and white chequerboard pattern with pink accents. Both feature Le Coq Sportif’s innovative Dynactif cushioning system, which was one of the first dual-density midsoles when it was introduced in 1991. Nonetheless, while the trainers mix form and function with the same laid-back approach of those hanging ten, they’re probably best enjoyed on dry land. The Le Coq Sportif X Town & Country trainers will be available at Footpatrol from June 21, priced £100.
