Golden balls David Beckham has swapped pitch for pool by unveiling a new swimwear range with H&M. The former footballer is showing off the leisure of retired life, adding board shorts, swim shorts and trunks to his self-titled brand, already housed by the high street chain.
Nine styles across the three silhouettes will debut when the collection launches in May. Navy, olive and white colour ways make up the range, with each piece conveniently packing away into a nylon pouch.
The move follows a number of consecutive seasons partnering with the Swedish retailer, which resulted in the world’s first shoppable ad, premiering during half time of Super Bowl XLVIII.
Since introducing the Bodywear line back in 2012, Beckham has gone on to include mini-versions of the underwear for kids.
The tattooed star, who turns 39 this year, continues the tradition of fronting the latest campaign himself. The father-of-four appears in a series of images – released along with the announcement – wearing both the tighter and looser-fitting models.
Beckham said: “The success of my Bodywear collection at H&M has been fantastic, so I’m thrilled to be introducing these great swimwear pieces ready for the summer… We’ve worked hard to create new classics for men.”
Since stepping away from the world of football, the once England captain has followed his wife into fashion, becoming more involved with brands such as Breitling, Armani and Belstaff.
Bosses at H&M were keen to stress the new addition maintains much of Bodywear’s key values – including fit, performance, comfort and style – suggesting price points will remain equally affordable.
The David Beckham swimwear range will be available at H&M internationally from May 22nd.
