Fashion covers a multitude of areas, demographics, tastes, styles and cultures. Everyone is different and each person has their own personal style and image. However, those with the best style and fashion sense take parts from each and mix them together in their own unique way. Today we are going to feature some traditional street/skateboard brands which have started to become more recognised in the fashion markets. These are Silas clothing and Vans Footwear.
Vans have long been leaders in the skate shoe market, making high quality footwear for boarders everywhere. However, over the last few years they have made some excellent pieces that would look great on even the most contempory and fashion conscious male. The full collection is featured in the main post along with details of where to get your hands on a pair. Seen on celebrities like Pharrell Williams, Lupe Fiasco and Linkin Park Vans are definately about to take the fashion world by storm this year.
Silas clothing is also a traditional street style brand which specialises in colour and bold prints on their t-shirts (like all good street style). Silas could be seen as a Cult in street style fashion and have many loyal followers. They have also made the cross over to the mainstream fashion industry and their new luxe collection can be found at many boutiques now a days. Check out the full collection and add some flair to your wardrobe today.
The Vans styles available for you here at oki-ni have been hand picked from the Vans Limited Vault Collection to give you the best they have to offer.
Founded in 1966 by Paul van Doren, Vans was orginally know as the Van Doren Rubber Company. Their first day of business was 15th March 1966, when their shoe shop opened in Anaheim, California. They offered 3 styles of shoe on their first day but had only made display shoes – the racks on the walls were stacked with display shoes to make the shop look better. Twelve customers came into the Vans shop and picked out the style and colour of the shoes they wanted – but there were none in stock. Paul and Gordy asked their customers to come back in the afternoon and that lunchtime rushed back to the factory to make them!
All 12 customers showed up the following day to pay for their shoes. Since then, the company has grown from a small canvas shoe maker in southern California into a global brand which is now synonymous with relaxed understated style and functionality.
London label Silas was founded in 1998 by Russell Waterman and Sofia Prantera Silas.
Beginning life a a small mens and womenswear label, Silas is now globally regarded and we’re very pleased to bring you
